Abstract

This text uses the Data Envelopment Analysis, DEA, for the selection of functional forms and represent the
technical efficiency in 2 potato harvests and the relevant productive factors in 56 municipalities in Boyacá, Colombia,
in 2015. You can have three functional forms for the output variable: average tons of potatoes per hectare harvested
obtained in each municipality, another is its square, the third is the combination of the previous two. The BCC DEA Model
is used oriented to both inputs (BCCI) and outputs (BCCO), the percentage of efficient municipalities is 47% and 48%
respectively. In BCCI the linear model (quadratic, combined) dominated in 23% (31%, 46%) of the municipalities. In BCCO
the linear model (quadratic, combined) dominated in 42% (61%, 9%) of the municipalities. These results can be used to
estimate improvement potentials in each model and in each variable to improve agricultural performance.
