Author Guidelines

Authors submitting articles for consideration and potential publication by the Editorial Committee must strictly follow the instructions below:

1. Submission Process

Authors must submit their articles through the OJS system (SEE SUBMISSIONS). The submission must include the article file prepared using the official journal template, along with the Article Submission Form and the Publication Agreement. By submitting, the author(s) provide their general information and certify that the manuscript is an original product, has not been previously published, and will not be submitted to another journal while under peer review here.

2. General Formatting & Template

• Journal Template: All articles must be submitted strictly using the official journal template, which is already configured with the correct margins, font sizes, and layout. Templates are available in English and Spanish, depending on the language of your manuscript. Download the corresponding template here: Template in english.
• File Format: Microsoft Word (.docx).
• Language & Tone: The official languages for submission are Spanish, English, and Portuguese. The text must be written in the third person.
• Length: Manuscripts must have a minimum of 4,000 and a maximum of 6,000 words (including images and tables, not exceeding 16 pages).
• First Page: As shown in the template, the first page must include the article title, full names and surnames of the authors, abstract, and keywords.

3. Equations and Graphical Material

• Equations: If the article includes mathematical equations, they must be created using the Word Equation Editor and numbered according to the IEEE format.
• Graphics (Images, Figures, and Tables): To ensure high print quality, graphical material and legends must be designed using high-quality graphic editing software. Authors must ensure sufficient resolution so legibility is not compromised.
• Submission of Graphics: Each graphic must include a title and be numbered in order of appearance. They must be submitted as independent electronic files (High resolution, minimum 300 DPI, in JPEG, GIF, PSD, or BMP formats).
• Permissions: Tables, figures, and photographs must be original to the author(s). Otherwise, written permission from the copyright holder must be requested, or the corresponding Creative Commons license must be properly cited.

4. Article Structure

All articles must include the following sections in this order:

• Title: Must be brief but descriptive, easily understood by a non-specialized reader. An asterisk (*) should be added to the title to specify the nature of the article (research, reflection, or review). If it is a research product, include the project title, date of execution, and the supporting institution, research incubator, or research group. The title must be provided in Spanish, English, and Portuguese.
• Authors: Mark with two asterisks (**) the full names and surnames of the author(s), city, highest academic degree, current institutional affiliation, job title, address, email, city, and country.
• Abstract: A brief description of the central topic, summarizing the objectives, methodology, results, and conclusions. Maximum 150 words, written in a single paragraph. It must be provided in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. It should not contain exact sentences copied literally from the body text.
• Keywords: Up to 5 keywords must be provided in all three languages, in alphabetical order. Preferably, use descriptors from recognized thesauri, such as the UNESCO Thesaurus (http://databases.unesco.org/thessp) or others relevant to the field.
• Introduction: Must contain the justification and/or background of the problem or topic; the hypothesis or description of the problem; and the thesis and method followed to obtain the solution or organize the theme.
• Development / Body: Follow logical numbering as appropriate.
• Conclusions: A reflection on the achievements of the work regarding the stated objectives and a brief discussion on the future of the topic.
• Acknowledgments (Optional): Brief recognition of individuals or entities that supported the research.
• References: Prepared strictly according to IEEE format (see section below).

5. Citation and Reference Guidelines (IEEE Format)

The I+T+C Journal strictly requires the use of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) citation format.

Recommendation: We highly encourage authors to use reference management software such as Zotero or Mendeley to automate and ensure accuracy in their in-text citations and reference lists.

The IEEE format requires the initial of the author's first name, italics for book titles, and at least the publisher, place, and year of publication. If an article has 5 or more authors, you may write only the first author followed by et al. in italics. Volume numbers, page numbers, and series information should also be included if available.

IEEE style does not require mentioning the author and title within the text. References are inserted into the grammar of the sentence as if they were nouns or footnotes, using bracketed numbers.

Examples of in-text citations:

• Standard: "...as demonstrated by Brown [4], [5]; as mentioned earlier in [2], [4]–[7], [9]; Smith [4] and Brown and Jones [5]; Wood et al. [7]"
• As nouns: "...as demonstrated in [3]; and according to [4] and [6]–[9]."

Reference List Formats

Always include the DOI or URL in the references whenever available.
