Abstract

Currently, women hold leadership roles that reflect active and visible development; however, structural and cultural barriers still limit their participation in strategic decision-making, particularly in the industrial and research sectors. This paper examines the main challenges faced by women leaders, the most effective leadership styles in these settings, and the impact of their involvement on innovation, production, and decision-making within organizations. Using a mixed-methods approach that combines documentary analysis and questionnaires administered to women in leadership positions across public and private companies, patterns of exclusion, resistance strategies, and factors that facilitate access to high-level roles were identified. Findings indicate that female leadership introduces diverse approaches, enhances organizational communication, and strengthens collaboration. The implementation of gender-focused institutional policies is recommended to promote equity across all organizational levels. Despite progress, the study highlights the continued need for structured institutional mechanisms that ensure equal participation of women in key decision-making positions.
