Development of craft paper from bamboo fibers

Abstract

This project was proposed to give advantage to vegetable waste produced in the process of harvesting and postharvest of bamboo. This resource is already used since ancient times by the early settlers of the Andes and is still used today, especially in the western center of Colombia-region. It is planned to seize the Guadua l cellulose as a raw material for the production of high quality handmade paper with a brightness of up to 63.4% with two-stage bleaching using hypochlorite and 13% hydrogen peroxide and 50% whiteness of 42.7% and 40% without the use of chemicals.
